The Union Cupboard on Wednesday authorised the Manufacturing Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) scheme for IT {hardware} with a budgetary outlay of Rs 17,000 crore, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned, in accordance with a report by information company PTI.
This PLI scheme is being known as PLI Scheme 2.0 and it intends to provide a push to the home manufacturing of laptops, tablets, all-in-one private computer systems (PCs), servers and ultra-small type issue gadgets. The scheme has a tenure of six years and is predicted to result in incremental manufacturing value Rs 3.35 lakh crore, in accordance with a report by Cash Management.
The PLI Scheme 2.0 for IT {hardware} is projected to draw an incremental funding of Rs 2,430 crore, fostering technological developments and selling self-reliance within the IT sector. The scheme can be anticipated to generate vital direct employment alternatives, with an estimated 75,000 new jobs being created, the report added.
